Hall of Fame Induction and Speech
Robert J. Briggs, a graduate from Brighton High School Class of 1963, was honored
in Rochester, New York and Monroe County with his Induction into the:
Section V - Monroe County Football Hall of Fame
Thursday, April 1st, 1999
Bob was selected All-American for small Colleges at Heidelberg University, Tiffin, OH. Upon graduation in 1967 he was drafted #7 behind Steve Spurrier (current Coach for University of Florida) to the San Francisco 49er's. Bob played for the San Diego Chargers 1967-1970, the Cleveland Browns 1970-1974 and the Kansas City Chiefs 1974-1976.
It was a First Class Show. Over 40 BHS Alumni attended the Ceremony to honor Bob and his family. Bob's three sons; Brian, Brady and Kevin along with Bob's sister Sharron heard the moving acceptance speech by James Densmore. Jim touched all of our emotions as he chronicled Bob's life as a Friend, Football Player and as a dedicated Family man.
As Jim started the speech with "A Large Oak fell, May 5th, 1967... and concluded with Bob's Greatest Accomplishment of teaching his physicialy chalenged daughter to eat", tears were hard to hold back. The full text of the Speech will be displayed here shortly.
Jim Densmore, BHS '63 represented family and friends as the Keynote Speaker for Bob.
